Parveen Shakir (Urdu: پروین شاکر) was one of the most influential and beloved Urdu poets of the modern era, widely celebrated for bringing a fresh, distinctly feminine voice to Urdu literature. Born on November 24, 1952, in Karachi, Pakistan, into a Syed family with roots in Bihar (India), she emerged as a poet who captured themes of love, romance, longing, feminism, sensuality, and the inner emotional world of women with remarkable depth and sensitivity.
